In my spare time, I volunteer my talents as a writer and marketer to a local non-profit organization based in Graves County, Kentucky, the Four Rivers K-9 Search & Rescue Team - Mounted SAR and Dive, Inc. The Four Rivers K-9 Team is a non-profit volunteer organization that is in operation for the rescue of lost, missing, and overdue persons in remote areas of western Kentucky as well as throughout the state as needed at the request of law enforcement, fire department and emergency management agencies. The organization, in existence for nearly 4 years, is comprised of over 30 volunteers who are professionally trained in search and rescue operations. Our team is available on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year – regardless of weather conditions – to any and all agencies that request our services at no charge.

Besides our human members. we have 7 specialty-trained, mission ready K-9 dogs are on staff capable of cadaver detection, land and water rescue, track and trail, air scent, confined search, and disaster. Moreover, our team has recently added to our search and rescue ensemble several highly qualified and trained SAR horseman and divers. Presently, our organization receives no federal, state, or local funding and community donations and fundraising endeavors conducted throughout the year generate the necessary revenue to cover most of our operating expenses. Neither our board of directors nor the members of our team receive remuneration for their time or experience.

A new website is being developed to market the Four Rivers K-9 Team and it should be online by late June 2008.
